We helped with the feature story of a Singaporean TV network, CNA (Channel News Asia) Money Mind, about Microapartment in Japan and it was aired last week. The micro apartment is a very small sized residence as small as 9sqm and becoming popular among young people who cannot afford high rents but want to live central Tokyo.
We firstly interviewed Mr. Keisuke Nakama, the CEO of Spilytus, the management company of Micro apartments in Japan. He told us how he came up with the idea and how the residents enjoy their lives in their apartments.
Then we interviewed Mr. Tetsuya Kaneko, Managing Director, Research & Consultancy, Savills, a commercial real estate agency. He spoke about on how average rents in Tokyo have increased in recent years, how micro apartments compare with other options in the real estate market in Tokyo.
Lastly we visited the house of Mr. Hirata, one of the residents of micro apartments. He showed us how he lives in his rather tiny room and told us his experience there. Before visiting there we could hardly imagine living in that space ourselves but he showed how he cooks using his small kitchen, and even how he worked out there too, so we started to think living there is not such a bad idea.
We appreciate a lot to all the participants who happily cooperate with our project. We also like to thank Jake with CNA for giving us a chance to cover this interesting subject and nicely editing our materials. Hope to work with you again soon!
